LOCH LOCHY

Loch Lochy is the second biggest and first Loch along the Great Glen Way, with the dramatic landscapes of Ben Nevis and surrounding mountains in the background. We start at the head of the canal at Gairlochy, then follow along the banks spotting different plants and wildlife, with some of the largest trees you’ll find in the Lochaber area.

LOCH ARKAIG

As well as a popular fishing, Loch Arkaig hosts an array of natural beauty within the Allt Mhuic nature reserve, boasting the chance to see animals such as Red Deer and Osprey. Also, Invermallie Bothy is a great stop for a bite to eat on a cold day.

LOCH SHEIL

This Loch, which can be paddled all the way out to sea, starts at Glenfinnan with incredible views of the Bonny Prince Charlie monument and the Glenfinnian viaduct (Harry Potter bridge), with the steam train passing over daily.

LOCH MORAR

Why not come have lunch on a remote island in the deepest loch in the UK? Near Mora Silver Sands, Loch Mora offers scenic views of the rugged west coast. Legend has it there are ancient tunnels that connect Loch Mora with Loch Ness, and it is here where Morag, Nessie’s long-lost relative is said to live!

LOCH EILT

Loch Eilt is a hidden gem, nestled between Fort William and Mallaig. It is surrounded by beauty, with Essan Bothy on its southern shore, Eilean Na Moine island (‘Dumbledore’s grave’) to the east, and remote views of the ‘Harry Potter train’ passing by.
